What are the key ingredients for immune support in this formula?

This formula contains Echinacea (A & P Blend) Root Extract at a 1:2 ratio and Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) Berry Liquid Extract in an alcohol base (not more than 50%) with purified water. Echinacea is traditionally used to support upper respiratory tract health and helps support the immune system's natural response. Elderberry is known for its rich antioxidant and antiviral properties, supports immune resilience, and may support the body during cold & flu season.

What does the research show about echinacea for immune support?

Research shows mixed results on echinacea's effectiveness. While the overall evidence for clinically relevant treatment effects is considered weak, some studies suggest potential benefits. One study showed echinacea-elderberry combination was as effective as oseltamivir (prescription antiviral) in early treatment of influenza with reduced risk of complications and adverse events. Most studies have evaluated effects of dosages of 450-4,000mg daily for up to 4 months.

How long should I take this and when should I start?

For cold & flu support, start at the first sign of symptoms. Do not take echinacea for more than 5-7 days at a time without a break, and do not take for a cold or flu for more than 10 days. Elderberry can be used as a tonic and taken more regularly. Take 10 to 15 drops before food once or twice daily, diluted in 50ml water. The 1:2 extract ratio means each 1ml contains 500mg dried herb equivalent.

Is the alcohol content a concern in this tincture?

The tincture contains not more than 50% alcohol as a natural preservative and extract base. While this sounds high, the actual amount you ingest per serving is very small. When taking 10-15 drops, you're consuming less than 1ml, which contains minimal alcohol. Three servings would yield less than 1/4 teaspoon of alcohol. The alcohol is necessary for extracting and preserving the active herbal compounds.

Can I take this alongside other supplements or medications?

Always consult your healthcare practitioner before combining herbal supplements with medications or other supplements, as there are potential interactions. Echinacea may interact with immunosuppressants and certain medications. The combination should not replace prescribed medications without medical advice. Store in a cool, dark place and ensure the bottle is properly sealed between uses.
