Kalmegh (Andrographis paniculata) is one of the most potent bitter herbs in Ayurveda, traditionally known for its role in supporting liver health and normal immune function.
In our daily diet, the predominant tastes are often sweet, salty, and sour. However, Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of incorporating all six tastes—including bitter, astringent, and pungent—to support overall balance and harmony in the body. This is why many herbs and medicinal preparations in Ayurveda tend to be bitter in nature.
