Long before modern medicine, licorice root was treasured across ancient civilisations. Archaeological records show its presence in Assyrian clay tablets dating back to 2500 BCE, and in Egyptian medical papyri from the same era. Its name, Glycyrrhiza, comes from the Greek for “sweet root”—a fitting description, as its natural compounds make it up to 50 times sweeter than sugar.
It is valued for supporting digestive, respiratory and adrenal health.
Licorice is like a sweet sage who walks through time carrying scrolls of healing. Knows the rhythm of your body better than you do — and gently coaxes it back into wholeness.
